The TV Unterstrass is a handball club from the Zurich quarters Unterstrass , Oberstrass , Wipkingen , Affoltern and Oerlikon . The club played in the 2nd division men and women.
history
The association was founded on April 3, 1864 by 20 active members and one passive member. Many of them were students like for example from the Polytechnikum (today ETH Zurich ) which was founded in the same year.
The handball department was founded in mid-March 1935. In the autumn of the same year they won the cantonal gymnastics championship against the TV Schlieren . In 1939 the second team was formed.
When indoor handball emerged in the 1960s, the successful days of TVU passed.
In the 1988/89 season Unterstrass rose from the NLB to the NLA. Due to the low budget of 114,000 Swiss francs, they were relegated straight away in the following 1989/90 season , and in the 1990/90 season they were "passed on" to the first division.
