NGC 3220 = IC 604 is a spiral dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 55 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 20,000 ly. Together with NGC 3214 , it forms the optical pair of galaxies Holm 182 .
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3206 and NGC 3238 .

The object was discovered on April 8, 1793 by William Herschel .
