IC 603 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sa in the constellation Sextant south of the celestial equator . It is around 234 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 90,000 light years .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2002jm was observed here.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on May 4, 1893 .
