IC 598 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is around 101 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 40,000 light years .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on March 27, 1889 .
