IC 607 = Arp 43 is a merging bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type SBbc in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is around 245 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 95,000 light years .

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with a companion of low surface brightness on one arm (Arp catalog) . In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 3239 .

The supernova NAME AT 2016hht was observed here.

The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on March 29, 1889 .
