IC 605 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Sextant south of the celestial equator . It is around 283 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 95,000 light years .
The object was discovered on March 11, 1893 by Stéphane Javelle .
