IC 616 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Scd in the constellation Leo the northern sky . It shows a strong photometric and kinematic asymmetry.
Immediately south of the galaxy there is another galaxy with a brightness of around 17 mag and the names PGC 3090487 / NPM1G +16.0223 . The pair is cataloged as Holm 200 (Holmberg, 1937). The couple has not been investigated; SDSS data on the redshift speak against the fact that it is a physically bound pair.
The object was discovered on December 16, 1893 by Stéphane Javelle .
