IC 628 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation Sextant south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 377 million light years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years in diameter . Together with PGC 31559 it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair .
The galaxies NGC 3326 and IC 634 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on May 18, 1892 .
