IC 638 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 526 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 95,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3346 , IC 635 , IC 637 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 16, 1893 .
