IC 655 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb with an active galaxy core in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 544 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 160,000 light years in diameter .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on April 22, 1892 .
