IC 651 is a weakly illuminated spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type Sm in the constellation Sextant south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 193 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light-years across .
The Supernova SN 2005cd was observed here.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on March 21, 1893 .
