IC 659 is a cD galaxy of the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 631 million light years from the Milky Way and about 265,000 light years in diameter .
The object was discovered on April 19, 1893 by Stéphane Javelle .
