IC 653 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 241 million light years from the Milky Way and about 140,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxy IC 655 is located in the same area of ​​the sky .
