IC 637 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 291 million light years from the Milky Way and about 140,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3346 , IC 635 , IC 638 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on January 15, 1894 .
