IC 623 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Sextant south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 289 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years across.
The object was discovered on April 7, 1893 by Stéphane Javelle .
