NGC 3222 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 246 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 85,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3213 , NGC 3226 , NGC 3227 .

The object was discovered in March 1855 by Friedrich August Theodor Winnecke .
