NGC 3286 = NGC 3284 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E in the constellation Ursa Major at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 365 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.
Together with NGC 3288, it forms the gravitationally bound galaxy pair KPG 239 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 8, 1793 .
