NGC 3274 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBcd? in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic , which is an estimated 22 million light years from the Milky Way . It forms an optical pair with the much more distant galaxy PGC 213714 .
The object was discovered on April 11, 1785 by the astronomer William Herschel using his 18.7 inch telescope and was later listed by Johan Dreyer in his New General Catalog .
