NGC 3305 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E0 in the constellation Hydra south of the celestial equator . It is an estimated 166 million light years from the Milky Way and is a member of the Abell 1060 Hydra cluster .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on March 24, 1835 .
