KPG 239 (also CPG 239 ) is a pair of galaxies in the constellation Ursa Major around 110 million parsecs away. The pair consists of two galaxies separated by about 4 arc minutes with similar apparent brightness. The pair does not form an isolated system, but there are several other galaxies in the same field, among which these two stand out most clearly.
The more northerly component, KPG 239A or NGC 3286 , is classified as an elliptical to lenticular galaxy (E3 / S0 pec), while the more southerly, KPG 239B or NGC 3288 , is classified as a spiral galaxy (Sb pec). At KPG 239B there is an arcuate spiral arm tapering to the south. KPG 239A is a powerful X-ray source.
