Antoine Audo

Antoine Audo SJ (born January 3, 1946 in Aleppo , Syria ) is the incumbent Bishop of Aleppo of the Chaldean Catholic Church .

Life

Antoine Audo joined the Society of Jesus ( Jesuits ) in 1969 and was ordained a priest on August 5, 1979. He studied in Damascus , Paris and Rome and worked as a professor of biblical studies at the Université Saint-Joseph (Beirut) and the Université Saint-Esprit ( Kaslik ). On January 18, 1992, he was appointed bishop of the Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of Aleppo (Syria), based in the Saint Joseph Cathedral , and ordained on October 11, 1992. At the unsuccessful electoral synod in Baghdad after the death of Patriarch Raphael I. Bidawid , he received twelve of the fourteen required votes in 2003. Instead of him was finally Emmanuel III. Delly elected.

Antoine Audo has been a member of the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Care for Migrants and People on the Move since January 29, 2011 .
