The Eparchy of Aleppo ( Latin Eparchia Aleppensis Chaldaeorum ) is in Syria located eparchy of the Chaldean Catholic Church , based in Aleppo , located in the St. Joseph Cathedral .

Pope Pius XII founded on July 3, 1957 the diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Quasi Pastor from cession of territory of the dissolved Gazireh eparchy .

Scope and current situation

In 2011, the Aleppo Eparchy, which is responsible for the Chaldeans in all of Syria, comprised 14 parishes with 30,000 Chaldean Christians. According to Bishop Antoine Audo, these or their ancestors had finally experienced a positive coexistence with Muslims in Syria after terrible persecution in the Ottoman Empire, but the civil war now seems to repeat itself for many.
