Eparchy Gazireh (Chaldeans)
The Gazireh eparchy ( Latin Eparchia Jazirensis Chaldaeorum ) was a Chaldean Catholic eparchy located in what is now Turkey , with its seat in Cizre .
history
The Gazireh Eparchy was established in 1553. 1957 the Eparchy Gazireh by Pope Pius XII. dissolved and the territory was annexed to the newly established eparchies of Aleppo and Beirut .
In 1913 there were 6,400 Chaldean Catholics living in the Gazireh Eparchy. The eparchy was divided into eleven parishes and had 17 priests .
