Antoine de La Fosse

Antoine de La Fosse , (Lord of) d'Aubigny (* 1653 in Paris ; † November 2, 1708 ), was a French diplomat and playwright.

Antoine de La Fosse worked for some time as secretary of the French embassy in Florence and later worked in the same position for the Marquis de Blachefort . During the War of the Spanish Succession he fought alongside his employer against the Austrians, among others, and received an award after the Battle of Luzzara (15 Aug 1702). After the war, La Fosse acted as secretary to the Duke of Aumont for some time.

La Fosse wrote four tragedies, of which Manlius was one of the most excellent and popular tragedies of the 18th century. He also wrote elegies , epigrams , idylls , madrigals and odes .
