Anton Fischer (bobsledder)

Anton Fischer (born July 25, 1954 in Ohlstadt ) is a former German bobsleigh driver.

Career

Fischer, who competed for SV Ohlstadt , won the German championship in the two-man bobsleigh in 1983 together with Hans Metzler . In 1984 the two finished eighth at the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo. Together with Franz Niessner and Uwe Eisenreich , Fischer and Metzler also competed in the four-man bobsleigh , taking 14th place out of 24 teams that competed.

In 1985 Fischer and Nießner won the German Championships in both the two-man and four-man bobsleigh, with Uwe Eisenreich and Markus Söhnge completing the crew in the four-man bobsleigh. In 1986, Fischer joined Christoph Langen as the new pusher, the two of whom won the German two-man bobsleigh championship three times in a row from 1986 to 1988. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary, Fischer and Langen took seventh place in the two-man bobsleigh, while Fischer, Nießner, Eisenreich and Langen took eleventh place in the four-man bobsleigh. Anton Fischer won his last German championship title in 1989 together with Jörg Huber, Richard Luxenburger and Christoph Langen in the four-man bobsleigh. In the 1990s, Christoph Langen became a bobsleigh pilot himself.
