Heinrich Anton Göhrs (born January 26, 1884 in Lindern (Oldenburg) , † October 28, 1944 in Essen / Oldenburg ) was a German politician ( center ). From 1923 to 1933 he was a member of the Oldenburg Landtag .

Life

Göhrs worked as a master tailor in Essen in Oldenburg. In June 1923 he was elected for the first time for the Center Party in the Oldenburg State Parliament, to which he belonged without interruption until 1933. In parliament he was a member of the Petitions Committee from 1923 to 1931, of the Finance Committee from 1931 to 1932 and again in 1933 and of the Administrative Committee from 1932 to 1933.

During his membership on the Finance Committee, Göhrs dealt with, among other things, bonds that the Free State of Oldenburg had taken out from the Netherlands and the United States. In connection with his activity at the time, he was arrested in the summer of 1934 at the instigation of the Bremen customs investigation office. Following his pre-trial detention in Oldenburg , he was held in the Vechta protective custody camp until February 1935 . Although he did not have to pay the fine he was sentenced to, imprisonment and conviction severely damaged his business as a master tailor. He only escaped arrest in the course of the " Operation Grid " in 1944 because of a serious illness.

Anton Göhrs was married and had five children.
