Anton Janko

Anton Janko (born August 29, 1909 in Muckenbrunn , Bohemia , † August 26, 2000 in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz ) was a German Catholic clergyman and theologian .

Janko made his Abitur at the Jesuit grammar school in Mariaschein and then studied philosophy, theology and biblical studies at the University of Rome from 1930 to 1939 . In Rome he was ordained a priest on July 14, 1935 . During the Second World War he was employed in the parish pastoral care in Seelenz near Iglau .

In 1946 Janko was from his home sold and became chaplain in the Diocese of Mainz . A year later he was appointed prefect to the student convict of the Albertus Magnus College in Königstein im Taunus . He was employed there since the founding of the Philosophical-Theological University in Königstein. Initially as a lecturer, he was professor of Old Testament exegesis and biblical languages ​​from 1957 until the college was closed. From 1977 to 1978 he was director of the Albertus Magnus College in Königstein. In September 1978 he retired and moved to live with relatives in Siegenhofen.
