Anton Meurer

Anton Meurer (born April 2, 1919 in Lontzen ; † January 21, 1990 in Bremen ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and teacher.

biography

education and profession

Meurer attended high school. He studied philosophy and psychology at the University of Bonn in the late 1930s . From 1940 to 1945 he was a soldier in World War II . From 1946 to 1947 he completed a teacher training course in Bremen. He became a teacher at the Nürnberger Strasse school in Bremen. He also wrote school radio plays for Radio Bremen . From 1954 he was director of the Catholic St. John's School.

politics

In the 1950s he became a member of the CDU. He worked in the committees of the district association and regional association of the party. On October 11, 1959 he was elected to the Bremen citizenship . He was a member of the deputations for the welfare system (1959–1969), for art and science (1962–1963) and for the school system (1963–1975). In 1974 he had to retire as a teacher due to illness and therefore gave up his parliamentary mandate in 1975.
