Anton Wilhelm Solnitz
Anton Wilhelm Solnitz (also: Sollnitz * around 1708; † 1752 in Leiden , other sources: * around 1722, † 1752 or 1753 in Leiden or The Hague ) was a German-Bohemian composer.
Life
As his compatriot Johann Andreas Kauchlitz Colizzi (around 1742–1808) stayed a few decades later, Solnitz spent his entire musically productive life in the Dutch Republic , the wealth of which attracted musicians from all over Europe. He worked in Leiden and The Hague, for a stay in Amsterdam mentioned by Fétis and Eitner , there is no evidence. His works were printed in Amsterdam and Leiden from 1738. According to Ernst Ludwig Gerber, a strong master who is said to have died of drinking and impoverished.
A portrait of the artist (1743, oil on canvas, 18.8 × 15 cm) by Herman van der Mijn was sold at Sotheby’s in 2005 .

Solnitz's three-movement symphonies, which were widespread in Northern Europe, are influenced by Antonio Vivaldi and Giovanni Battista Sammartini . The three-movement chamber music works document the transition from the baroque to the gallant style .
