Alvine Luise Antonie von Cosmar , b. Voigt, mate. Klein, (* 1806 in Magdeburg ; † 1870 ) was a German writer , translator and fashion editor. She published in part under the pseudonym A. Cosmar .

Life

She was born in Magdeburg as the daughter of Justice Councilor August Ferdinand Voigt. Her mother died early and Antonie Voigt grew up spoiled by her father. In 1827 she married the writer Alexander Cosmar (1805–1842) and soon afterwards worked for the magazine Berliner Modenspiegel, founded in 1832, of domestic and foreign originals. A magazine for the elegant world . Translations from French followed, including a translation of Eugène Scribes Das Glas Wasser in 1841 , as well as his own comedies and novels from the 1830s. Her transfers of the works of Louise d'Aulney around the Wunderhold doll became popular. She published her works under the pseudonym A. Cosmar ; they were therefore viewed in public as the works of their husband.

Alexander von Cosmar died in 1842, so that his widow now had to earn her living by writing. Von Cosmar continued the Berlin fashion mirror , the appearance of which is documented until 1848. After the newspaper was discontinued in 1850, she founded the Berliner Moden- und Musterzeitung (from 1851 Victoria: illustrated sample and fashion newspaper ), which she ran for two years. Another magazine founded by Cosmar became the Bazar in 1855 . First women's and fashion newspaper , which she ran for three months. For two years she was also editor-in-chief of the Gerson fashion newspaper .

Before 1865, von Cosmar married a Dr. Klein, with whom she lived in Dresden .
