Antonino Asta (born November 17, 1970 in Alcamo ) is a former Italian football player and coach .

Player career

In the club

The lower divisions

Asta played for Corbetta and Abbiategrasso before making his professional football debut with Saronno. From 1995 to 1997 he was a regular at AC Monza in the third-highest division in Italy. In 1997 he moved to Torino in the Serie B .

Turin, Naples and Palermo

With Turin Asta reached promotion to the top Italian division in the 1998/99 season. On August 28, 1999, he made his Serie A debut in a game against Bologna. In January 2000 the midfielder was sold to SSC Napoli , but at the end of the season he returned to Turin, where he played for two more seasons. The last two years (2002-2004) before his retirement he played for US Palermo .

In the national team

Asta completed a game for the Italian national football team in his career . In his only international match, Giovanni Trapattoni put him on February 13, 2002 against the United States from the start of the game, at the beginning of the second half he was replaced.

Coaching career

Since 2005 he has worked as a coach in the youth team of Turin FC .
