Antonio De Rosso

Antonio De Rosso ( February 8, 1941 in Farra di Soligo , Italy - February 20, 2009 in Aprilia , Italy) was Senior Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church in Italy and temporarily Metropolitan of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church .

Life

In 1986 Antonio De Rosso was ordained a Catholic priest . After some time he switched to the Greek Orthodox Synod in the Resistance, where he became Bishop of Aprilia and Latium (Lazio) in 1986.

In 1991, Bishop De Rosso founded the Orthodox Church in Italy . In 1993 he made this subordinate to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and became Bishop of Central and Western Europe with the official seat in Budapest . In 1995 he was appointed Bishop of Ravenna and Italy.

In 1997 Antonio De Rosso left the Bulgarian Orthodox Church with his eparchy and joined the Bulgarian Alternative Synod . There he became Archbishop of Ravenna and Metropolitan of Italy and was a member of the assemblies of the Synod. In 2009 he was also named Archbishop of L'Aquila. Soon after, he died.
