from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antonios Pepanos ( Greek Αντώνιος Πέπανος ; * 1866 in Patras ; † 1918 ) was a Greek swimmer who took part in the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens . He competed in the 500 meter freestyle swimming and finished second there with a time of 9: 57.6 minutes. Pepanos was a member of the Panachaiki Gymnastiki Enosi , an association that has already won many Olympic medals. At the age of 30, Pepanos was full of doubts whether he should compete again at this high age for athletes, as his successful days were long over. Due to this fact, he only competed in one competition.
