In a vehicle or other machine, the drive axle is the axle on which the power from the motor is transmitted to the wheels via drive shaft (s) or, in the case of electromobility, increasingly also directly via wheel hub or rim motors. In the case of rail vehicles , one also speaks of a driving or coupling axle .
