Anzac Bay is a shallow bay in the Auckland region of New Zealand , most of which is dry due to the tidal range there . It lies on the in the Hauraki Gulf nearby island of Waiheke Iceland . To the west of Anzac Bay is the mouth of Okahuti Creek and the Ostend settlement . Tawaipareira Creek flows into the bay and Okoka Bay joins at the southern end of Anzac Bay .

Surname

Anzac Bay was named after the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps , an army corps of the armed forces of the British Empire during World War I , which consisted mainly of Australians and New Zealanders. Anzac Bay is one of 16 places in New Zealand whose name is reminiscent of the Army Corps in World War I.
