The Aoudéras (also Auderas ) is a dry valley in the Aïr high mountains in Niger .

geography

The origin of the Aoudéras lies on the mountain Todgha ( 1853  m ) and consists of numerous small side valleys that unite in the area of the village of the same name Aoudéras . The Aoudéras runs curvy in an east-west direction through the area of the rural community of Dabaga in the Agadez region . A few kilometers southwest of the village of Elméki it flows into the dry valley of Tamezlak . There is a straight line distance of around 43 kilometers between the origin and the mouth.

The Aoudéras only has flowing water seasonally, after the annual rainfall. The main town in the valley is the village of Aoudéras, with small hamlets next to it.

History and economy

The Aoudéras is first mentioned by the Spanish chronicler Luis del Mármol Carvajal (1520–1600), who waded through the water-bearing valley. After the area of Iférouane further north, the valley is one of the oldest agricultural areas in the Aïr . It has a long tradition of irrigation farming along the shore.
