Apemosyne

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Greek mythology, Apemosyne is the daughter of Katreus and thus sister of Althaimenes , Klymene and Aërope .

Legend has it that an oracle foretold Katreus that he would be killed by one of his children. To prevent this, he sent his children away from Crete . Apemosyne and her brother Althaimenes left Crete for Rhodes . There Hermes had fallen in love with her, but could not win her favor. In order to get her, Hermes set out traps on her way and later raped her. When Apemosyne told her brother this, he didn't believe her and got so angry with her that he kicked her to death.
