List of apple varieties

Transparent from Croncels is a variety of the apple ( Malus domestica ). It was made in the Balten tree nursery in Croncels near Troyes in France and has been available in stores since 1869. According to Walter Hartmann (1996, 2000) the full name is 'Transparent from Croncels'. The variety has several synonymous names: 'Apple from Croncels', 'Croncels', 'Transparent from Croncels', 'Eisapfel von Croncels', 'Rose apple from Croncels' and Apple from Croncels.

description

The tree, which is initially strong and later medium-strong, forms diagonally upright leading branches with dense lateral branching. Because of its vigor and frost hardiness, the variety was used as a stem former. The variety is susceptible to scab , powdery mildew , viral broom growth and leaf mosaic viruses . It cannot tolerate heavy soil because it will get cancer there , and no harsh climate because the fruits will not ripen there.

The flowering time is long lasting. The flowers develop terminally on short shoots or laterally on one- and two-year long shoots and are not sensitive to frost or weather.

fruit

The medium-sized to very large fruit is 80 mm wide and 67 mm high and weighs 195 grams. The smooth, dry to slightly fatty, medium-thick and firm skin is greenish-yellow to reddish-yellow in color and frosted with light orange. The yellowish to light salmon yellow pulp is loose, almost frothy, medium-fine- celled , juicy, delicately sweet and sour and depending on the location, little to fine aromatic. The picking period begins at the end of August and lasts until mid-September. It is ready for consumption from September to October. The apple is very sensitive to pressure and transport and can not be stored for longer than a month. It is a sought-after cake apple in bakeries.
