Apidologie is one of the leading international journals in the field of bee research .

description

The magazine was founded in 1970 through the merger of the French-language magazine Annales de l'Abeille and the German-language magazine for bee research . The title Apidologie (Apis = bee) is the Latin name for apiculture. The naming includes the affiliation of the bees to the superfamily Apoidea and integrates the term biology , which is used in a broader sense . The magazine is published by the French agricultural institute INRA ( Institut national de la recherche agronomique ) and the German Beekeeping Association .

Content

The journal, which appears annually in six issues, publishes original research articles on behavioral biology , ecology , physiology , pollination , genetics , toxicology and pathology of bees , as well as overview articles, reports on scientific conferences and bibliographies on special fields. The language of publication today is almost exclusively English. Most of the articles contain summaries in German. The magazine has an Impact Factor in 2011 of 2.266. There is also an electronic version.
