Apuania

Apuania refers to a former municipality in the Province of Massa-Carrara (then Province of Apuania), Tuscany , Italy .

geography

Name derives from the Community of was the ancient people of the Apuan and named after them Apuan Alps . Carrara , Massa and Montignoso belonged to the municipality . The place or the community network consisted of the three now independent community parts, a place with the name Apuania does not exist.

history

The municipality of Apuania was created in the time of Italian fascism on December 16, 1938 with the merger of the three places Carrara, Massa and Montignoso on the basis of the decree decr. legge 16 dicembre 1938, n.1860 . At the same time, the province of Massa-Carrara was renamed the Province of Apuania. The province was then given the AU license plate . The dissolution of the municipality and the renaming of the province took place after the end of the war on January 10, 1946 by the decr. legge luog. 10 gennaio 1946, n.48 .
