The Aqueduct of Buc was built at the instigation of Louis XIV in the years 1684 to 1686 under the Minister Louvois according to the design by Jules Hardouin-Mansart under the direction of Thomas Gobert of the Régiment Royal de Normandie . At first an attempt was made to cross the valley with a culvert , but the pipes of which could not withstand the water pressure. Therefore the valley floor was filled with an earth dam and the aqueduct was built on it.

The Buc aqueduct has been a listed building since 1952 .
