Aquariums terrariums. Monthly magazine for vivarium science and ornamental fish breeding was a specialist magazine for animal keeping in aquariums and terrariums . Until 1974 the subtitle was still a monthly for ornithology and vivarium .

It was usually published monthly from 1954 to December 1990 by Urania Verlag in Berlin , the publisher was the Kulturbund der DDR .

The first responsible editor was the writer Reimar Gilsenbach . He was followed in 1965 by the director Hans-Albert Pederzani . In 1980 Helmut Stallknecht took over the management.

The newspaper mainly carried articles on aquaristics, to a lesser extent on terraristics. At least in the 1970s, ornithology didn't play a role.

The format was about DIN A5. It had about 30 pages and cost 1.20 marks . It was not until January 1974 that the title page (and only this one) was in color. Far too small, far too thin, printed on far too poor paper and always sold out, she could always hold a candle to her western glossy sisters. In addition to the above-mentioned editors, among many others Hans-Joachim Richter and Hans Joachim Paepke were important authors. Arend van Nieuwenhuizen and Ruda Zukal also wrote terrariums for the aquariums .

After reunification, the magazine was taken over by the West German specialist journal DATZ .
