Arai Helmet ( Japanese 株式会社 ア ラ イ ヘ ル メ ッ ト , Kabushiki-gaisha Arai Herumetto ) is a Japanese manufacturer of helmets for both motorcycles and motor racing .

The company was founded in 1926 by Hirotake Arai. He initially made hats; but he was also a motorcyclist. In the 1950s there were no helmet manufacturers in Japan, and they could only be imported under difficult economic conditions. In-house production was set up. From 1976 his son Michio Arai continued to develop the company and its products in order to become a top brand. Akihito Arai is now at the head of the company.

Today, Arai is one of the leading outfitters in motorcycle racing, in car racing through to Formula 1 . The Arai GP-6 RC meets the FIA conditions in Formula 1 racing.
