Anna Peters (born June 20, 1996 ) is a German politician . She is the federal spokeswoman for the Green Youth .

Life

After graduating from the Franco-German high school in Freiburg and completing a weltwärts volunteer service in Ecuador , Peters studied political science and economics at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg with a focus on environmental economics from 2015 to 2019 . As part of this, she worked in 2018 at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, Energy on the study "Ending the use of coal for energy in Germany - mastering challenges and shaping structural change" together with the German Institute for Economic Research and the Ecologic Institute. She completed her studies in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

politics

Peters has been a member of the Green Youth since October 2012, and a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2015 . In October 2018 she was elected as an assessor and international secretary to the federal board of the Green Youth. At the 53rd Federal Congress of Green Youth in November 2019, Peters was elected national spokeswoman.

In 2017, Peters was part of the delegation of the Federation of Young European Greens to the UN climate negotiations ( UNFCCC ) in May and November. There she negotiated the Gender Action Plan with the youth and women's non-governmental organizations. This was adopted by the UN states in November 2017 and is the first plan at UN level to strengthen women in the fight against the climate crisis. After Michael Bloss moved into the European Parliament in 2019, Peters has been employed as the MEP's assistant.

Positions

Her political priorities are environment and climate, international affairs, feminism and anti-fascism. Politically, she is fighting to ensure that the Paris Agreement is adhered to. She also works to ensure that sea rescue is not illegal and that people no longer drown in the Mediterranean. Peters also fights for a decriminalization of abortion. At the end of November 2019, Peters called for coal excavators to be blocked in Lusatia together with activists as part of the campaign weekend by the Climate Alliance End Site.
