Benedikt "Bene" Lux (born December 9, 1981 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and since 2006 a member of the Berlin House of Representatives (MdA) for the constituency of Steglitz-West, where he is with his wife and children lives.

Life

education and profession

Benedikt Lux grew up in Berlin-Lichterfelde , where he attended the Goethe High School after primary school and was already active in school politics. He was also involved in the parish of Mater Dolorosa and was doing community service in the anti-discrimination office Berlin e. V. The study of law at the Humboldt University of Berlin he graduated in 2006 from, completed in 2009, the second state exam and since 2010 as a lawyer admitted. Party career

In 1996 Benedikt Lux joined the Green Youth, one year later Alliance 90 / The Greens. From 1998 to 2002 he was on the state board of the Green Youth and from 2003 to 2004 on the national board. In 2006, Lux stood for the first time in the House of Representatives election for the Steglitz-West constituency and has since been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives (MdA). In the state elections in 2011 and 2016, he was also able to enter parliament via the state list. From June 2010 to 2012, Lux was the spokesman for the Federal Working Group on Democracy and Law of Alliance 90 / The Greens. In addition, he was the parliamentary director of the Green Group in the Berlin House of Representatives from 2012 to 2016. Lux is the spokesman for data protection , drug policy and the protection of the constitution for the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group and has been its domestic policy spokesperson and legal policy spokesperson since the beginning of 2018.

Member of Parliament

With the election of the House of Representatives in 2006 , Benedikt Lux was able to move into parliament as a member of the state list. In the 16th legislative period he was a member of the Committee on Home Affairs, Security and Order and the Committee on Constitutional Protection and Legal Affairs. For the 2009 Bundestag election he ran as a direct candidate in the Bundestag constituency Berlin-Steglitz - Zehlendorf , but lost to Karl-Georg Wellmann (CDU). In the House of Representatives elections in 2011 and 2016 , he was re-elected to Parliament via the state list. Benedikt Lux has been chairman of the Committee for the Protection of the Constitution since 2012. In the 18th legislative period, Lux is a member of the following committees:

  • Subcommittee on Human Resources and Administration as well as Product Budget and Human Resources
  • Committee on Home Affairs, Security and Order
  • Subcommittee on data protection, freedom of information and for the implementation of Article 13 (6) of the Basic Law and Article 25 (10) of the ASOG (dissolved on May 4, 2017)
  • Communication Technology and Data Protection Committee
  • 1. Investigation Committee "Terrorist attack Breitscheidplatz"

Political positions

Lux is committed to a modern domestic and legal policy as well as transparency and data protection. The compatibility of public safety and the rule of law of every individual are one of his main concerns. For him, this includes a well-equipped and trained police force and the state's respect for individual rights and freedoms. He sets a further focus on drug policy with the plea for education and help instead of persecution and convictions.
