Ricarda Lang (born January 17, 1994 in Filderstadt ) is a German politician and Member of the German Bundestag . She is women's policy spokeswoman for Bündnis 90/Die Grünen . Previously, she was spokeswoman for the Green Youth . Lang belongs to the left wing of the party . She has co- chaired her party with Omid Nouripour since January 2022 .

Life

Lang grew up as the daughter of a single mother social worker who worked in a women 's shelter for 14 years . Her father is the sculptor Eckhart Dietz , who died in 2019 . After graduating from the Hölderlin-Gymnasium Nürtingen , Lang began studying law in 2012 , first at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg and later at the Humboldt-Universität in Berlin , eventually dropping out in 2019 without graduating .

politics

In 2012, at the age of 18, Lang joined the Green Youth. In October 2015 she became a member of the federal executive board of the Green Youth, and at the 49th federal congress of the Green Youth in October 2017 she became their spokeswoman. From 2014 to 2015, Lang worked as spokeswoman for the Federal Association of Campus Green . From 2015 to 2016 she was a member of the executive committee of the Berlin district association Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg . Since November 2019 she has been deputy federal chairwoman and women's policy spokeswoman on the federal executive board of the Greens .

Lang ran as a candidate in the 2019 European elections for the Greens, but missed out on being elected to the European Parliament . In the 2021 federal elections , she was a candidate for the Greens in the Backnang – Schwäbisch Gmünd constituency and also ran for place 10 on the Baden-Württemberg Greens list . She missed the direct mandate , but entered the 20th German Bundestag via the state list . She is the first openly bisexual MP.

In the German Bundestag , Lang is a full member of the family committee and a deputy member of the labor and social affairs committee .

Lang's political focus is social justice and climate change ; she is assigned to the left wing of the party. She also stands for feminism and a positive attitude towards the body . She focuses on collectivist solutions. Lang is a member of the United Services Union (Verdi).

In January 2022, she was elected unopposed as federal leader of her party together with Omid Noripour at the federal party conference of the Greens .
