The Federal Executive of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen (often referred to as the Federal Executive of the Greens ) heads the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen party . It implements the resolutions of the Federal Delegates' Conference ( Party Congress ) and the State Council and also passes resolutions on important political issues itself. The Federal Board convenes the Federal Delegates' Conference.

Compared to the party executive committees of other parties such as those of the CDU , the CSU and the SPD , the federal executive committee of the Greens is relatively small with its six members. In his work, he is advised by the party council, which consists of 16 members.

According to the federal statutes of the Greens, the federal executive committee has the following members, who are elected every two years by the federal delegates' conference:

• the two national chairmen
• the political director,
• the federal treasurer,
• the two deputy chairmen.

The federal delegates' conference elects a women's policy spokesperson (must be a woman), a diversity policy spokesman and a European and international coordinator from among the members of the federal executive board. The office of diversity policy spokesman was created in 2020 and has not yet been elected. The other two offices are usually occupied by the two deputy federal chairmen.

At least half of the board of directors must be women. In addition, at least one woman must be among the two federal chairmen.

incompatibilities

According to the statutes, a maximum of two members of the Bundestag, Landtag or European Parliament may belong to the Federal Executive Board. The following offices are fundamentally incompatible with membership of the Federal Executive: Chairman of the parliamentary group, chairman of a state parliamentary group, chairman of the parliamentary group in the European Parliament, member of the federal government, member of a state government, member of the European Commission.

Infidelity Investigations

On January 6, 2022, the Berlin public prosecutor's office initiated preliminary proceedings against the federal executive board because of the receipt of controversial bonuses .
