Vollrad Kuhn (born August 31, 1956 in Lehnin ) is a German engineer, environmentalist and politician. He co-founded the Green Party in the GDR in 1989 and was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen from 1995 to 1999 .

Life

Kuhn passed the Abitur in Fürstenwalde and then studied mechanical engineering and shipbuilding at the University of Rostock . He graduated with a degree in engineering . From 1984 he became involved in the Evangelical Church in Fürstenwalde and helped found a church environmental group. In 1989, Kuhn participated with Carlo Jordan , Carola Stabe and others in the founding of the Green Party in the GDR, was one of the first speakers and worked until June 1990 as its public relations officer. In June 1990 he was elected Deputy District Mayor of Berlin-Mitte . However, he gave up this office again in 1992 and was a city councilor in the Treptow district until 1995 . In 1995 he was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives, to which he belonged for a legislative period until 1999.

From 2000 Kuhn worked as a project manager for the Berlin Energy Agency and was responsible for international consulting projects until the end of 2008. In addition, he was committed to his colleagues as a voluntary works council chairman for more than five years. From 2009 he was the project manager of the Clinton Climate Initiative at William. J. Clinton Foundation responsible for energy efficiency building projects in Europe as well as City Director Berlin. Since mid-2010 he has been working as a manager in the field of building energy efficiency for a global US company. On January 26, 2017, Kuhn was elected city councilor for urban development and deputy mayor in the Berlin-Pankow district.

Kuhn is married and has three children.
