It was founded in 1992 on the initiative of the Berlin House of Representatives . This was preceded by a motion from the parliamentary groups of the Alternative List and the SPD .

organization

The state of Berlin , Vattenfall Wärme Berlin AG, GASAG AG and KfW Bankengruppe are equal partners . According to the 2016 annual report, sales amounted to 12.8 million euros. BEA has 46 employees (as of July 2016). Michael Geißler has been the managing director of BEA since 1997. Business areas

In the contracting division , BEA operates over 80 of its own combined heat and power (CHP) units in the Berlin urban area to supply buildings with electricity and heat, as well as some solar thermal and photovoltaic systems. The Berliner Energieagentur now operates a total of 58 solar power systems with a total installed capacity of approx. 4.4 MWp. Examples are the PV systems on the Max-Schmeling-Halle and the Rotes Rathaus in Berlin.

At the Berlin wholesale market, BEA operates one of the largest solar power systems in Berlin and is developing an integrated energy concept for the site in order to reduce energy consumption on site and at the same time use the solar power generated on site.

The Consulting division develops information campaigns, energy-saving concepts and implements efficiency projects in buildings. The BEA is u. a. Project manager for the Berlin energy saving partnerships, an energy saving contracting model developed in Berlin for currently around 1300 public buildings in the capital. On behalf of the Berlin Senate, the BEA developed the “Energy Concept 2020”, which shows the way to an efficient and demand-oriented energy supply.

The International Know-How Transfer division transfers experience from Germany in the form of specific projects and consulting services to other regions of the world, especially in emerging countries and in Southeastern Europe .
