Heidemarie-Rose Rühle (born November 5, 1948 in Heilbronn ) is a German politician and former member of the European Parliament .

Life and work

Heide Rühle studied psychology at the University of Tübingen , is married, has two grown children and lives in Stuttgart . In the 1970s, Rühle was a member of the Maoist KABD (German Communist Workers' Union).

Political party

Heide Rühle became a member of the Green Party in 1984 . From 1987 to 1990 she was state chairwoman of the Greens in Baden-Württemberg . In 1990 and 1991 she was the spokeswoman for the federal executive committee of the Greens, and for the next seven years she was political director of the party, which has since been united with Alliance 90 .

From 2000 to 2002 Heide Rühle was a member of the party council at the federal level. Since 2003 she has been a member of the party council of the Baden-Württemberg regional association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen .

In 1999 she was the top candidate for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the European elections . In the European elections in 2004 and 2009 she ran for third place on the federal list of the Greens.

MPs

From 1999 to 2014 Heide Rühle was a member of the European Parliament and belonged to the Group of the Greens / EFA on. Heide Rühle was of 8 January 2002 to 26 February 2007 Deputy leader of the Group of the Greens / EFA .

She was a member of the Committee for Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) and an alternate member of the Committee for Regional Development (REGI). In the 2014 European elections, she no longer ran as a candidate.

Memberships and other activities

Rühle was a member of the Europa-Union parliamentary group European Parliament . From 2005 to 2009 Heide Rühle was a member of the presidium of the non-partisan European Union .

Honors

On May 18, 2019, Heide Rühle was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg by Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann .
